Moston App Co respects your privacy. The Midwife's Journal has been designed as a local-first journal application, with your journal information stored on your device rather than on servers operated by Moston App Co.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use The Midwife's Journal.
The Midwife's Journal allows users to create and maintain professional journal records, which may include:
User profile information
Birth records
Clinical experience records
Skills and competency records
Placement information
Reflections
Continuity of care records
Professional goals
Achievements and progress information
Notes and other journal content entered by the user
This information is entered voluntarily by the user for their own professional record keeping and reflection.
The Midwife's Journal is designed to store journal information locally on the user's device.
Moston App Co does not operate a cloud database for The Midwife's Journal and does not receive, access or store the journal records users create within the app.
Journal information remains under the control of the user on their device.
The Midwife's Journal is intended as a professional development and reflective journaling tool.
Users should not enter information that could identify a patient, client, baby, family member or other individual.
Users should not enter information such as:
Patient or client names
Baby names
Hospital or medical record numbers
Medicare numbers
Addresses
Phone numbers
Email addresses
Full dates of birth where they could identify an individual
Photographs that identify a patient or client
Any other information that could reasonably identify an individual
Where a continuity of care or clinical reference is required, users should use a non-identifying reference or code.
The user is responsible for ensuring that information entered into the app complies with their employer's policies, professional obligations and applicable privacy requirements.
Moston App Co does not collect or receive the journal information stored within The Midwife's Journal.
The app is designed so that normal journal use does not require journal records to be transmitted to Moston App Co.
Moston App Co does not sell journal information or use journal information for advertising.
Any user profile or local sign-in information created within The Midwife's Journal is used to operate the app on the user's device.
The Midwife's Journal does not require a Moston App Co cloud account for normal use of the journal.
The Midwife's Journal may provide features that allow users to export or back up information from the app.
When a user chooses to create an export or backup, the user is responsible for where that file is subsequently stored or shared.
For example, a user may choose to save a backup to:
Their device
A computer
External storage
Google Drive
OneDrive
Another storage provider
If a user chooses to store an exported file with a third-party service, that service's own privacy policy and terms apply.
Moston App Co does not automatically receive copies of exported or backed-up information.
Moston App Co does not sell, rent or trade journal information.
Because journal records are designed to remain locally on the user's device, Moston App Co does not share those records with advertisers, data brokers or other third parties.
Information may only leave the device when the user deliberately uses an export, backup, sharing or similar function.
The Midwife's Journal does not use journal information for advertising purposes.
If advertising or third-party analytics services are added to a future version of the application, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those services are introduced where required.
The current version of The Midwife's Journal is not designed to transmit users' journal content to Moston App Co for analytics or behavioural profiling.
Moston App Co does not use journal entries, clinical records or reflections to build advertising profiles.
The current version of The Midwife's Journal does not transmit users' journal records to external artificial intelligence services for processing.
If an optional AI feature is introduced in a future version, users will be informed about what information is transmitted and how it is handled before that feature is used, and this Privacy Policy will be updated where required.
Because journal information is stored locally, users are encouraged to protect their device using appropriate security measures such as:
A device PIN or password
Fingerprint or facial authentication
Device encryption where available
Secure backup practices
Keeping the device's operating system up to date
Users should take appropriate care when exporting or backing up journal information.
Journal information remains on the user's device until the user:
Deletes individual records
Deletes information through the app
Clears the app's storage
Restores or resets the device, or
Uninstalls the application
Moston App Co does not maintain a separate server-side copy of the user's journal that can be restored after local data has been deleted.
Users are encouraged to create backups of important journal information.
Users can delete journal information directly through the app where deletion functionality is provided.
Users can remove all locally stored application information by clearing the application's storage or uninstalling The Midwife's Journal from their device.
Because Moston App Co does not maintain a cloud copy of normal journal records, Moston App Co generally does not hold a separate copy that needs to be deleted.
Because The Midwife's Journal is designed as a local-first application, information may be lost if:
The device is lost or damaged
The app is uninstalled
Application storage is cleared
The device is factory reset
A backup has not been created
Users are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of information they wish to retain.
The Midwife's Journal is designed as a professional journaling tool for student midwives, midwives and other appropriate adult users.
It is not designed or directed toward children.
The operating system, Google Play, device manufacturer, or services a user independently chooses for exporting or backing up information may process information under their own privacy policies.
Moston App Co is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services independently selected by the user.
Moston App Co may update this Privacy Policy when The Midwife's Journal changes or when privacy requirements change.
When significant changes are made, the effective date at the top of this policy will be updated.
Users are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
